Sub: Niyamathullah Memorial Award 2004
Greetings from the Southern Chapter of the Indian Society of Nephrology. The SCISN has been conducting an annual essay competition entitled NIYAMATHULLAH MEMORIAL AWARD which was instituted 11 years ago in memory of Dr. Niyamathullah a young and brilliant Nephrologist, who graduated from CMC Vellore and had an untimely death. This essay competition is meant for postgraduate students (MD/ DNB students) in General Medicine/ Paediatrics. The prize carries a citation, gold medal and prize money of Rs. 1000/-. The Awardees will be invited to attend the annual conference and they will be paid TA, DA and provide suitable accommodation for attending the conference to be held in February 2004 at Mangalore. In addition, the Chapter also awards certificates to the second and third entrants, and a prize money of Rs. 750/- and Rs 500/ respectively, who will also be invited to the conference. The actual travel expenditure, accommodation and registration will be borne by the Society. The participants have to submit an essay on the topic chosen by the Society. The objective is to initiate interest in Nephrology for Post-Graduates in Medicine and Pediatrics. The topic of the essay for this year is "Pathogenesis of Primary Hypertension".(The topics for previous years can be seen here)
Four copies of the essay should be sent to the Secretary, SCISN, on or before 31.12.2003 (and one copy by email). Guidelines for writing and submitting abstracts are enclosed. The members of entries have increased over the years and the following is the list of the recipients of the award in previous years.
